Day 1 – September 27, 2024
I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. (1 Tim 2:1–2)

In 40 days, a new President will be elected. Let us begin our short season of unified prayer by humbly seeking God and asking Him to providentially grant us a President who will best assure that Christians may live in peace, and not as objects of animosity or persecution from our government and its agencies, and that our Christian values will not be impinged upon in any area so that we may life godly lives. In short, let’s pray for an outcome that affords us the best opportunities for our families and churches to live peaceful, quiet, godly, dignified lives.

Day 2 – September 28, 2024
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)

In times of uncertainty and worry, believers are called to place their trust in God’s sovereign care. Anxiety can easily consume us as we face personal and global challenges. However, as Paul encourages in Philippians 4, we are to bring every concern to God with a heart of gratitude, trusting in His perfect will. Pray that believers will remember to seek God’s peace in every situation, resisting fear and instead placing their confidence in His faithful provision. Ask God to strengthen the hearts of His people, that through their trust in Him, they may be a witness of His peace to a watching world.

Day 3 – September 29, 2024
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you… (Matthew 5:43-44)

Do not allow bitterness or frustration to shape your prayers during this election season. Jesus calls us to something radically different—to pray for our enemies, including candidates or political leaders we disagree with. Praying for them does not mean we condone their actions or stances, but it reflects the heart of Christ, who desires that all people come to repentance and know Him. So, pray wholeheartedly that the Lord may reveal Himself and open the eyes of those who are sowing evil in the leadership of our country. Pray that God will bring them to repentance and salvation for the glory oh His name and good of His people.

Day 4 – September 30, 2024
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)

In a culture that often glorifies instant results, it can be difficult to remain steadfast in doing good, especially when we don’t see immediate fruit. Paul’s words in Galatians 6:9 remind us that God’s timing is perfect, and He will bring a harvest in due season. Pray for strength and perseverance for believers who may feel discouraged, that they would not lose heart in their pursuit of righteousness. Ask God to keep their eyes fixed on His promises, knowing that their labor in the Lord is not in vain. Pray for a spirit of endurance, trusting that the seeds sown today will yield eternal reward in His perfect time.

Day 5 – October 1, 2024
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:2)

As believers navigate the distractions and pressures of this world, Paul’s words in Colossians 3:2 serve as a reminder to keep our focus on heavenly things. Earthly concerns can easily cloud our perspective, but we are called to lift our gaze to Christ, who reigns above all. Pray that God would help His people set their minds on His eternal purposes, not getting entangled in the temporary worries of this life. Ask for clarity and renewed focus, that the church would be marked by an unshakable hope in Christ, living as citizens of heaven while pointing others to His kingdom.

Day 6 – October 2, 2024
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)

In a world filled with conflict and division, Jesus calls His followers to be peacemakers, reflecting the heart of God. As we seek to bring reconciliation and peace, both in our relationships and in the broader society, we embody the identity of God’s children. Pray that God would raise up peacemakers within the church, equipping them with wisdom, humility, and grace. Ask for courage to stand in the gap where there is strife, that through their efforts, people would experience the peace of Christ. May the church be a beacon of unity and reconciliation in a world desperately in need of peace.

Day 7 – October 3, 2024
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. (Romans 12:12)

Paul’s exhortation in Romans 12:12 calls believers to maintain a posture of hope, endurance, and prayerfulness no matter the circumstances. In times of trial and uncertainty, we are reminded to anchor our hearts in the hope we have in Christ, patiently enduring the challenges before us. Pray that God would fill His people with a deep sense of hope that transcends their difficulties. Ask for patience and resilience in tribulation, knowing that God is at work in every season. Pray that the church would be steadfast in prayer, continually seeking God’s guidance and strength, and trusting in His perfect plan.

Day 8 – October 4, 2024
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26)

God designed us to care for the earth. Our government, through regulations and laws, seeks to protect our environment. The question is whether we use man’s wisdom or godly wisdom in that endeavor. Pray for godly wisdom in stewarding the natural resources God has given us. May we have God’s view of his world that we should delight in it, instead of our culture’s view that humanity is a burden to nature. Pray for the election of leaders who share a biblical worldview toward the planet.

Day 9 – October 5, 2024
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, (Psalm 1:1a)

Pray specifically for the believers of our country to have discernment when it comes to the extraordinary amount of information that will come at us during this election season. In many ways, reality and misinformation have become so blended that we struggle to know the truth. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give us discernment through our meditation on the Word of God, our measuring stick of truth. Pray we will also speak truth and resist exaggeration or hyperbole to win political points in this election season.

Day 10 – October 6, 2024
Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. (Ephesians 4:25)

Elections inherently divide a nation. Believers must resist division among the brothers and sisters of Christ. Pray that Christ will remain the unifier among His body. Paul’s words in Ephesians 4 speak to the new life compared to the world around the church. We see tense discord and division in our nation, and Christians can have different answers for the problems we face as a nation. We must pray that our common trust in Jesus as our Savior and Lord will far exceed any political differences we hold. Pray God uses his unified church to display his glory to our nation.

Day 11 – October 7, 2024
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:1-6)

The greatest problem in our country is not financial, racial, or political. It is spiritual. It is the lostness of so many. From the house next door to the White House, the only way our nation will ever truly change is for there to be a tide of God’s grace poured out for the salvation of sinners. Pray for those in authority – that they would recognize the One True God and put their faith in the only Savior, Jesus Christ.

Day 12 – October 8, 2024
Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. (Psalm 2:10-11)

It seems apparent that many of those responsible for our laws and the administration of them have little regard for, much less fear of God. Decisions are being made and policies pushed that deny His authority and His Law.

Pray for our leaders at every level that they will fear God, not man, and will exercise their God-given responsibilities in light of His ultimate authority.

Day 13 – October 9, 2024
The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will. – Proverbs 21:1

When we began to grow cynical, skeptical, and even feel defeated at the worsening condition and often evil direction of our nation, let us be reminded of God’s sovereignty.

Pray that God will turn the hearts of our leaders to His purposes and great us respite from the evil around us.

Day 14 – October 10, 2024
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. (Proverbs 14:34)

If America will continue its slide into immorality and degeneracy, let it be in spite of our efforts, not because we did nothing, said nothing, nor lived lives indistinguishable from the world.

Pray that God’s people will pursue personal holiness and stand up and speak out for righteousness in the public square.

Day 15 – October 11, 2024
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

God is faithful to keep his promises. In Romans 10:13, He promises to save those who call upon the name of the Lord. Pray for men and women of our country to call out to God. We cannot rely on a political system or any politician to turn our country’s heart back to God. Citizens of our country need their eyes opened to their sin and they need to hear the Gospel, so they will repent and believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Pray for that today.

Day 16 – October 12, 2024
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:1-4)

The institution of the family remains under attack by our culture. God created the family to provide the necessary care and structure for humanity to thrive. Ephesians 6:2 speaks to God’s wisdom and grace when the family unit is honored. Pray for God to strengthen the families of our country. Pray we as parents and children see the goodness in the proper use of authority in our homes. Pray that the family unit is seen by our nation as a priority and necessity for the health and goodness of our culture.

Day 17 – October 13, 2024
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58)

Pray that our local, state, and national leaders will have the strength and resolve in their God-given duties to do what is Scripturally right and true in God’s sight. Pray that the Lord would cause each leader of our city and state (mayor, governor, congressmen & women, judges, etc.) to be steadfast, immovable, and always abounding in His work.

Day 18 – October 14, 2024
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14)

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)

Pray for God’s glory to be known through His bride the Church. That God’s glory would cover our nation like the waters cover the sea. Pray that the name of the Lord would be known, worshipped, and exalted across this nation amongst all demographics of people.

Pray that the church local (Calvary Baptist) and the Church Universal (true believers across this nation) would be a shining light, boldly declaring in word and displaying in action, the gospel to a lost and broken world.

Day 19 – October 15, 2024
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. (Habakkuk 2:14)

The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will. (Proverbs 21:1) First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

Pray that God would guide the hearts and decisions of local, state, and national leaders. Pray that they would make wise, godly decisions and have discernment regarding what policies best align with God’s purposes and ways. Pray that our governmental leaders would draw near to the throne of grace with confidence for their every need.
