We desire Calvary to be a place where orphans are cared for in the greatest ways possible. We encourage our family of faith to be actively involved in any way personally possible when it comes to orphan care. Some can adopt and/or foster, others can help and support those who do, lightening the load and helping carry their burdens.
We have called for Calvary to act in following ministry initiatives:
- Pray for those who are considering adoption or foster care or those that already have. (God’s will, grace, discernment, focus, patience, strength, wisdom, etc.)
- Organize practical/logistical support for those in or who have completed the process. (Meals, rides, relief care, materiel needs, etc.)
- Mentor families that have embarked on the journeys of foster care and /or adoption.(Guidance, counseling, prayer, support, liaison, etc.)
International Adoption
There can be many factors to consider as you sort through how God might be calling your family to care for the orphaned and vulnerable child. Many families feel their response to this call is pursuing international adoption, but it can be difficult to know how to get started. Many Calvary families have partnered with Lifeline Children’s Services as the agency of choice as they pursue international adoption. Lifeline is committed to walking alongside your family throughout this entire journey—from initial inquiry to post adoption support. Lifeline has the opportunity to serve in 18 different countries around the world. Lifeline partners with missional, Christian families who desire to impact the life of a child and to see the Gospel transform communities around the world. More than just meeting a humanitarian need or improving their quality of life, we are committed to growing the kingdom through growing families.

Domestic Adoption
At any given time in the state of Alabama, hundreds of children in foster care are awaiting a loving and caring adoptive home. Many have never felt the warmth and joy that comes from a forever family. Most have been placed in agency custody due to parental neglect or physical abuse. Others are in need of a forever family as their birthparents have chosen life and are wishing to make an adoption plan.

Adoption Assistance Fund
Calvary Baptist Church has helped our church family pursue adoption by giving over $77,000 since the fund was established 18 months ago. These funds are currently being put to work in our church body and soon you will see the fruit of your giving as you see new smiling faces around our church campus. If you feel led to contribute to replenish our Adoption Assistance fund, you can mark it on your gift, or select the fund when giving online.
Foster Care
Currently in Alabama, there are approximately 6000 children in foster care. Some simply need foster care for a matter of days. Others may need foster care until they are reunited with their biological family or a plan is made for them to be adopted. All of these children share the need for a caring and committed family that can bring them the future they deserve.
The good news is that the lives of these children can be brightened forever by just one person – you.
Families Count
Families Count is a Christ-centered, holistic ministry of the Church that focuses on family restoration and preservation. It targets parents who are at-risk for having their children removed from their homes and placed into foster care, and parents who have lost custody of their children and are working toward reunification. There are six classes, or Counts, that parents participate in with the option of being matched with mentors from within the Church.
